Data acquisition is the same at every plant: an OPC UA connection to the automation system, time series into your own database. The difference lies in what you want out of the data. A power plant reports output and availability, a process plant batches and quality, a production line stoppages and unit counts, a district heating network consumption and temperatures.
Short answer
DataPortia™ suits any plant that has an OPC UA server. The same acquisition and storage stack serves them all; what is industry-specific is which measurements are collected and how they are shaped into reports. The references so far are from the energy sector.
What is DataPortia suited to?
Four situations in which process data is generated continuously but stays inside the automation system. What they have in common is an OPC UA server, a need to get the figures out without manual work and, often, a requirement that the data does not leave the plant network. Below is each industry's own page and what is typically reported there.

What is common to all of them?
The same software, the same installation and the same features. There are no industry editions and no industry-specific licences. The difference is in the configuration: which measurement points are collected, which calculation points are defined and what report templates the result is shaped into. That is done at commissioning, not by buying a different product.

In detail: what is decided at commissioning
First the measurement points to be collected are selected. The automation system's OPC UA server is browsed and the points are picked from there — the control logic is not touched and nothing is installed on the automation system.
After that, calculation points are defined to derive the reported key figures from the measured values, for example energy from power. Last come the report templates: logo, cover page, page size and signature blocks, so that the printout is fit to be passed on as it is.
Where is DataPortia in use?
So far at Finnish energy companies. The software suits other industries on the same grounds — the requirement is an OPC UA server, not an industry — but I do not claim experience from where there is none yet. If you want to talk to a comparable plant before deciding, ask; I will pass on the contact if the customer agrees.
How do you get started?
The quickest way to establish suitability is to install the trial version in your own environment and connect it to a real automation system. The trial lasts 30 days, covers every feature except the HA add-on, and carries no commitment.
