Atorcom’s work is data acquisition and reporting on top of automation systems. In practice that means delivering and commissioning DataPortia, together with the work needed around it: selecting measurement points, defining calculation points, building report templates and connecting to other systems.

Short answer

Atorcom supplies DataPortia, installs it and handles commissioning: the connection to automation, the measurement points, the calculation points and the report templates. Behind it is over ten years of automation experience. All of it is done by the same person who wrote the software.

What does Atorcom do?

It supplies and commissions DataPortia and carries out the configuration work that goes with it. There is no list of separate service products, because plants differ: at one site the job is a two-day installation, at another it is going through the measurement points and the reports together with the users. Describe your situation and I will say plainly what it takes.

The most common needs and how they are handled
Need What it means in practice
Installation and commissioningDataPortia is installed on the plant's own server and connected to the OPC UA server. The first connection is gone through together.
Selecting measurement pointsThe automation system's OPC UA server is browsed and the points to be collected are picked out. The control logic is left untouched.
Calculation pointsThe figures to be reported are defined as formulas, for example power into energy. The definition is made once and adapts to the time range of the report.
Report templatesLogo, cover page, page size and signature blocks, so that the printout stands as the plant's own document.
IntegrationsSetting up the REST API and webhooks against an MES, ERP or BI system. The interface is read-only.
High availabilityDesigning and setting up redundant server pairs, database replication and application-level failover.

How does commissioning proceed?

In three stages. First you get in touch and tell me what is measured at the plant and what should come out of it. After that I deliver the installation package and the licence. Once it is installed, the first OPC UA connection and the first report are gone through together, so that the system is genuinely in use and not merely installed.

In more detail: what is worth telling me the first time

Three things are enough to start with: which automation system the plant has, how many OPC UA servers belong to it, and which reports are needed. On that basis the licence tier and the scope of commissioning can already be estimated.

If a current version of the report exists — even a spreadsheet filled in by hand — it is the single most useful attachment. It shows directly which figures are needed and in what form.

What automation experience is behind it?

Over ten years of experience with automation systems: PCS 7, WinCC, TIA Portal and OPC UA. DataPortia grew out of that work — it was written to solve the problem that keeps recurring in automation projects: the data exists, but it stays inside the system and no report comes out of it without manual work.

The sales enquiry is answered by the same person who does the commissioning and wrote the software — a question does not circulate around an organisation and the answer does not change on the way. Delivery capacity reaches beyond that: Atorcom works closely with PCS-Engineering Oy, who are equally able to deliver and commission DataPortia.

What if DataPortia is not what you need?

Get in touch anyway. Not every data acquisition need is solved by the same software, and a wrongly sized system costs more than not buying one at all. If the need is clearly someone else's work, I say so — and tell you what to ask the next supplier. That is quicker for both of us than a trial that cannot succeed.

In more detail: when DataPortia is not the right choice

DataPortia does not control the process. It reads from the automation system and writes nothing back to it, so it does not replace control room software and does not work as a control system. If the need is control, that is a different product.

Nor does it suit a situation where the automation system has no OPC UA server and one cannot be brought into use. Other protocols first require conversion to OPC UA, and that is a project of its own.

Can DataPortia be bought from a reseller?

Yes. The reseller is PCS-Engineering Oy, and the cooperation is close: they are also able to deliver and commission DataPortia. The same software and the same licence tiers are also available directly from Atorcom. If the purchasing channel matters, for example because of a framework agreement, mention it when you get in touch — it changes neither the product nor the price structure.

How do I get started?

Tell me which automation system the plant has and what should come out of it. On that basis I assess suitability and the licence tier. If it looks like a fit, I supply a trial version: 30 days, every feature except the HA add-on, and no commitment. I answer myself, so the reply comes without intermediaries.
